Generally speaking, the influence of the culinary traditions of virtually all European states, which used local lands as colonies, is strong in African countries.

In the Congo, the local people, taking into account the terrible poverty, prefer to eat a lot of greens, garlic, onions, and spices. The climate in this country is comfortable; this fact allows people to grow a lot of tasty and useful fruits and vegetables. The usual diet of local residents includes oranges, nuts, peanuts, lemons. From drinks, the inhabitants of the Congo love to drink coffee, juices, milk. In the Congo, locals usually eat a variety of porridges and all this is eaten with scones that replace bread.

In addition, local people and tribes eat cassava and yams. Cassava is a local plant that has edible roots. At the same time, this plant is poisonous; if you break the cooking technology, then a person will die, as poisoned by prussic acid.

Africa is a continent that has given the world many useful plants: phonio, sorghum, oats, and barley. There is an opinion that rice is also from Africa. Let initially not from the territory of Africa, but it was very long ago when sweet potato, corn and other famous plants, fruits and vegetables fell there, and that´s the place where these products got there further distribution throughout the world.

So you can safely say that in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, you will not be able to eat delicious unique African food!
