The Texas quail breed, as strange as it can sound, is deduced in the state of Texas of the United States of America. In the US, as well as all over the world, special attention is paid to quality farm products and how to obtain them. When raising this breed of poultry, the selectionists paid particular attention to the quality and properties of the meat. In the process of creating this unique breed of poultry, they firstly used the Japanese quails and the ordinary broiler breeds of the quail’s closest relatives. The results were truly amazing. The resulting breed of Texas quail gained weight very quickly; their meat was very tasty and nutritious. Later they were crossed with representatives of the English breed of white quails. As a result of all these breeders’ actions, the final specimen received white feathers, which gave them the second name – the Texas white quail.

Let’s dwell in detail on the external description of the obtained domestic quails: they have a beautiful white colouring, a wide back and a meaty chest. The legs of the breed also have a large amount of meat. The female of this breed of quail is considerably heavier and looks more massive than the male. A unique feature of the obtained breed of domestic quails is that with proper care in the first thirty-five days of their life they can gain more than 150 grams of weight, which, in essence, is half the mass of the adult specimen. Moreover, the Texas quails can lay more than 250 eggs a year.

It is not difficult to provide proper care for white Texan quails. So, to get a quality and tasty farm product, you just need to make a room for poultry no more than 20 square meters, provide fresh air and food. The number of birds is placed in a cage on an average thirty individuals per one square meter of the room. Since the bird does not like bright light, one ordinary lamp will be enough.
