Home cooking in Zimbabwe has been lapped by the tides of the cultural heritage of England.

At the same time, the most widespread products in Zimbabwe are the pumpkin, flour, obtained from corn, peanuts. Corn flour is used to make local porridge by mixing it with water.

Local people eat classic porridge and if they want they can add local vegetables to it. And rich families add meat.

To celebrate particularly significant events, such as birthday, wedding, etc., they kill the cattle to prepare a family dinner. The most typical dish is meat cooked on a grill, which is habitual for our home cooking.

In Zimbabwe, there is a white minority, which also follows its traditions and predilections in farm products and home-made foods.

So, we’d like to distinguish Afrikaners cuisine which is presented by various kinds of cheese and sausages.

In the cafes and restaurants of Zimbabwe, taking into consideration its colonial past, in the morning they serve porridge and drink tea.

As for peanut, it was inherited from the Portuguese, who discovered these lands in the 16th century and began to cultivate this agricultural culture in these territories.
