At first sight it seems that Madagascar is a boring and poor state situated somewhere near Africa. But in fact Madagascar is not just a country with an amazing nature. It is also a wonderful place with unusual home cooking and food.

Since in Madagascar there are a lot of people from Africa and the Great Sunda Islands, the home cuisine combines many different characteristics.

So, essential elements of home food of Madagascar are rice and hot pepper. The locals always combine them with various kinds of sauces, seafood, vegetables, meat.

Side dishes in the kitchen of Madagascar always consist of salads, containing spices, beans, corn, potatoes, cassava leaves.

In contrast to other African countries, local residents of Madagascar eat quite a lot meat. Mostly they prefer zebu antelope meat.

We recommend all tourists to try this meat; it is really very tasty there, because a lot of spices are added.

Desserts are represented by a variety of different fruits: strawberries, bananas, toilets, annonas, lychees. Also, at home locals like to cook pudding from coconut and rice.

As earlier Madagascar used to be a French colony, their wine-making industry is well developed.

Anyway, guests of the country can be sure that they will not be hungry!
